Course Description
Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) provides entry level training for people wanting a career in the Electrotechnology industry. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the required prerequisite knowledge and skills to gain access to a wide range of apprenticeships in the industry.
In particular, this course provide training in basic electrical theory, electrical workshop practices, wiring and basic installation skills, the use of hand and power tools and an overview of the Electrotechnology industry and the range of occupations within it.
Opportunities
Apprentices who take up this trade can work in commercial, domestic and industrial sites when qualified.
This is a popular trade and has many opportunities when it comes to building and construction industry. Salary and employment prospects are excellent and there is always the possibility to run and operate a business one day.
Entry requirements
It is recommended that the participants have basic communication, literacy, numeracy skills that are sufficiently well developed for them to participate in the training. In order to apply, students need to be currently completing VCE or VCAL.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer
If you have skills or knowledge gained through previous study or relevant experience, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfer which reduces the amount of training needed to complete the course.These will be discussed with you during your pre-training review.
